Standardise incident communication across your MAT

Multi-academy trusts oversee dozens of sites, thousands of pupils and staff, and a complex mix of local risks and policies. When something happens at one school or across a region, you need clear, consistent communication and a shared way of working, not everyone improvising.

Cosafe helps MATs standardise incident communication and response across all schools. You give leaders and central teams real-time visibility, support schools in following agreed processes, and build a trust-wide picture of risk, readiness, and learning from every incident.

Build a safety culture across your MAT

Cosafe lets you set trust-wide standards for safety and communication, while each school adapts the details to its context – so responses stay consistent and every incident becomes shared learning, not a one-off.

Trust-wide operations are complex – incidents shouldn’t add chaos

Running a MAT means balancing local autonomy with central oversight. Each school has its own layout, community and challenges, but your board, CEO and central team are ultimately accountable for safeguarding and safety across them all.

When incidents happen, many trusts still rely on a patchwork of phone calls, emails and chat groups. It is hard to know which schools have acted, who has responded, and where support is needed most.

Cosafe gives you a single, trusted channel for urgent communication and incident management across the trust. Schools alert, respond and update in one place, while central teams see the live picture and can step in with support where it matters most.

Prepare for Martyn’s Law

Martyn’s Law will introduce new duties for many schools and trusts to take reasonably practicable steps against terrorist attacks. For MATs, that means setting expectations, providing tools, and supporting schools in planning how they will respond, communicate, and protect pupils, staff, and visitors.

Cosafe helps you create clear, proportionate processes across the trust. You define realistic threat scenarios and attach simple action lists for schools, including events like performances, parents’ evenings, open days and sports fixtures.

If you need to act, schools can trigger the relevant scenario and reach key people within seconds, while trust leaders see live updates. Cosafe records incidents as they unfold, helping you demonstrate that the MAT carefully considered Martyn’s Law and took sensible, documented steps.

DfE health and safety guidance

DfE guidance on Emergency Planning and Response for Education asks schools to plan for a wide range of incidents and to keep those plans live, not just filed away. Cosafe helps you turn that guidance into practical, day-to-day routines and a clear audit trail when something happens.

Align your trust with ProtectUK counter-terrorism guidance

ProtectUK is the UK police hub for counter-terrorism security advice, checklists and ACT Awareness e-learning. It gives education settings clear, practical guidance on preparing for and responding to terrorist threats and other hostile events.

Cosafe helps you turn that guidance into trust-wide practice. You translate ProtectUK advice into concrete incident types, staff actions, and communication flows for each school, then use Cosafe to alert, co-ordinate and log responses in real time.

When you need support beyond software, our senior security adviser, Pia Thevselius, can work directly with your trust and schools to review plans, run tabletop exercises and train staff. This way, people feel confident rather than overwhelmed.

Health and Safety at Work

The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires you to protect employees, pupils and visitors so far as reasonably practicable, which means live systems people can actually use in a crisis.

Cosafe makes those duties tangible. You map likely incidents to clear actions, support staff with simple guidance on screen and keep a full audit trail, helping you demonstrate how you meet your legal responsibilities in practice.
