Keep your school safe in every incident

School life is busy enough without a crisis. Each year, UK primary and secondary schools face intruders, medical emergencies, missing pupils, and safeguarding concerns, often using scattered tools without a single source of truth.

Cosafe brings your school’s incident communication and response into one place. You alert staff in seconds, assign clear actions. Everyone knows what to do and leaders stay in control.

School days are busy – incidents shouldn’t add chaos

When something happens on site, schools often rely on walkie-talkies, phones, tannoy systems, and WhatsApp groups. It works until it doesn’t: messages go missing, different versions of events spread, and leaders cannot see what is happening in each classroom or zone.

Parents, governors and trusts expect a clear account of what happened and that you followed agreed procedures. Cosafe gives you one trusted channel for urgent communication and incident management, so you can alert staff in seconds, share instructions, and see live updates from around the school.

Martyn’s Law in everyday school practice

Martyn’s Law will introduce new duties for many larger schools to take reasonably practicable steps against terrorist attacks. Leaders must plan how to respond, communicate, and protect pupils and staff in fast-moving situations.

Cosafe helps you prepare without creating panic. You define realistic threat scenarios, attach action lists and test them in tabletop exercises or drills.

If you ever need to act, you trigger the relevant scenario and reach staff within seconds, while leaders see live updates from classrooms and key areas. Cosafe records the incident as it unfolds, so you can show that you took proportionate steps.

DfE health and safety guidance

DfE guidance on Emergency Planning and Response for Education asks schools to plan for a wide range of incidents and to keep those plans live, not just filed away. Cosafe helps you turn that guidance into practical, day-to-day routines and a clear audit trail when something happens.

Align with ProtectUK counter-terrorism guidance

ProtectUK is the UK police hub for counter-terrorism security advice, checklists and ACT Awareness e-learning. It provides schools with clear, practical guidance on preparing for and responding to terrorist threats and other hostile events.

Cosafe helps you turn that guidance into day-to-day practice. You translate ProtectUK advice into concrete incident types, staff actions, and communication flows, then use Cosafe to alert, co-ordinate, and log responses in real time.

When you need support beyond software, our senior security adviser, Pia Thevselius, can work directly with your school. She helps you review existing plans, run tabletop exercises and train staff using both ProtectUK material and your own procedures, so people feel confident rather than overwhelmed.

Health and Safety at Work

The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires you to protect employees, pupils and visitors so far as reasonably practicable, which means live systems people can actually use in a crisis.

Cosafe makes those duties tangible. You map likely incidents to clear actions, support staff with simple guidance on screen and keep a full audit trail, helping you demonstrate how you meet your legal responsibilities in practice.
